About the AI

What is CoverDial?

CoverDial is an AI phone receptionist for small businesses, set up and looked after by our team. It answers your calls day and night, takes a clear message and emails you a summary.

How CoverDial works

Will callers know it's an AI?

Yes. It says so in its first sentence or two, and says the call is recorded. It never claims to be a person.

Does it sound robotic?

It's an AI voice, and it's open about that. It speaks in short sentences, uses the caller's name and asks when it isn't sure. You hear your own receptionist and ask for changes before it answers your customers.

What if it gets something wrong?

It answers only from the facts you give it, and it takes a message when it doesn't know. Tell us about a wrong answer and we'll fix it, test it and update your receptionist.

What languages does it speak?

English and Spanish.

Can it transfer calls to me?

On Professional and up, during your office hours, for urgent calls, if the caller wants to be put through. You hear a short briefing first and choose whether to take it.

Can it book appointments?

Not yet: booking appointments on your calendar is coming soon. Today it takes the caller's details and the times that suit them, and you call back to confirm.

Callers and privacy

Are calls recorded?

Yes, and every caller is told at the start. A caller who'd rather not be recorded is offered your email or website instead.

How long are recordings kept?

Up to 12 months. Automatic deletion at 12 months is being put in place; until then, we delete any call when you ask. An add-on keeps recordings up to 3 years.

Who can see my calls?

You and the people you choose. Our team can view your account only to set it up and help you.

What if a caller has an emergency?

It tells them to hang up and call 911 before anything else. If they mention harming themselves, it gives the 988 crisis line. CoverDial is not an emergency service.

Do you sell my data or my callers' data?

Setup

How does setup work?

You tell us about your business on a call. We build and test your receptionist, you try it, our team approves it, and you forward your calls.

How setup works

Do I keep my number?

Yes. You forward your calls to your receptionist, and we walk you through the steps for your phone provider.

How long does it take?

It depends on how quickly we have your details; we'll give you a date on our first call. Urgent text alerts can take longer, while the carriers approve your texting registration.

Do I need new equipment?

No. It works with the phone number you already have.

Pricing and billing

How much does it cost?

From $299 a month for 500 minutes. There are four packages.

Compare the four packages

Is there a setup fee?

Setup is free on a 12-month plan. Month to month, it's $299.

What if I go over my minutes?

Calls are still answered, and extra minutes are 30¢ each on your next invoice. Usage emails at 80% and 100%, and a monthly spending cap you set, are coming soon with our billing tools.

Card or bank?

Either. Same price.

Is there a contract?

Month to month with 30 days' notice, or a 12-month term with setup free. The 12-month term's early-exit and renewal terms are in the order you accept at sign-up.

Support

When can I reach a person?

Our support team is available Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm Central. Your receptionist answers every call, day and night.

Is support open on holidays?

Human support is closed on New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and the day after, and Christmas Day. Your receptionist still answers every call.

What happens if your system goes down?

If the AI can't answer, your calls go to a backup number you choose, usually your cell (or, when available, voicemail sent to your email). If our phone carrier has an outage, we tell you right away how to switch your forwarding off. It answers every call while our systems are up.

Who it's for

Who is CoverDial for?
